Getting SLIIK© in SURREY

We kicked off our masterclasses in style at the weekend with a visit to the fabulous Colets Health & Fitness in Thames Ditton, Surrey. A modern fitness centre on the outskirts of London.


After a rushed drive down to make it there on time, we arrived to get set up and await our fabulous bunch of ladies who all bravely booked to try a class where they had no idea what to expect! One of those ladies was the amazing Sara from Calasara Fitness, who - as a fitness legend and presenter has taught a plethora of high energy, high impact classes in her time - was intrigued and somewhat skeptical as to what a low impact class would be like and whether it would still bring the 'feel good factor' that she craves as both an instructor and participant.

We kicked off with a warm up, then launched into our signature SLIIK© class format, weaving between dance fitness, Pilates inspired bodyweight exercises and resistance training using light dumbbells, building hip and lower body strength and mobility with a combination of both standing and floor work.


This particular class was a 45 minute playlist with the routines chosen and it FLEW by! Even I was shocked when we flowed straight into our cool down to round off the workout... had 45 minutes really gone by already?!


We'd danced, we'd sculpted, we'd worked up a sweat and the feel-good factor was definitely in the air!


"I think there are no real alternatives if you want to do low impact dance - and your moves and music are great!... Really like the combination of styles as it is a great ' all in one' workout that burnt as many calories my usual Zumba sessions 🙂."

"I was reminded how uncoordinated I am haha, so I struggled with the dance choreography but really enjoyed the strength and Pilates moves that went so well with the music... Overall, I had a great time - I’m 5 months post natal so the low impact nature was perfect for me! And the soundtrack just made it! Would love to continue SLIIK at Colets!"


And as for Sara? It's fair to say, her skepticism of low impact workouts had vanished!


"It deffo didn’t disappoint. Loved the combo of dance fitness, pilates style moves and resistance training using light dumbbells. The music is brilliant (RnB, Hip Hop & pop) which is so important for me when doing a class. Still worked up a sweat and the class went so quick. Loved being a participant for a change and thoroughly enjoyed it . Have to say I am feeling it this morning too... what a fabulous concept you have created"
